NBA's All-Defensive Team Named
May 12- Recently named NBA MVP Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and the 2004 winner of the same award, the Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett, headlined the league's All-Defensive Team. Also on the first team are Denver Nuggets center Marcus Camby, and San Antonio Spurs Bruce Bowen and Tim Duncan.
For Garnett, who was chosen Defensive Player of the Year and the helped the Boston Celtics to the league's best record, it was the ninth time on the All-Defensive team.
Bryant, who earned his eighth selection, and Garnett each received 24 first-place votes from the league's 30 coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Garnett spearheaded a defense that held opponents to 90.3 points per game and a league best .418 field goal shooting percentage.
Camby had a league-leading 3.61 blocked shots per game and was second in rebounds at 13.1 per game. Duncan is an 11-time selection, while Bowen made the team for the eighth time.
The second team is comprised of Shane Battier of the Houston Rockets, Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets, Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, Tayshaun Prince of the Detroit Pistons and Raja Bell of the Phoenix Suns.
