Chris Duhon Scores 34 In Bulls Win Over Warriors
In an improbable victory, Chicago Bulls guard Chris Duhon scored a career-high 34 points to secure a 114-108 win over the Golden State Warriors. Forward Joe Smith chipped in with 27 points.
The win spoiled Warriors forward Chris Webber's return to the team after 13 years. He had 4 points and 2 assists in 12 minutes of play. Before the game began, Webber was warmly greeted by the Golden State crowd.
Chicago played one of its most inspired games of the season, especially in light of the fact that guard Ben Gordon, forward Luol Deng and guard Kirk Hinrich were all sidelined.
Duhon, with 11-of-16 shooting, including four 3-pointers and nine assists, carried the team early, then rookie forward Tyrus Thomas then took over in the 4th quarter, scoring 13 of his 15 points. Chicago scored on 9 of the last 10 possessions down the stretch.
The Bulls won in Oakland for the first time since Jan. 30, 1998, in Michael Jordan's last season with the team.
Warriors forward Al Harrington scored 20 points, with four 3-pointers. However, lead guard Baron Davis shot poorly, 8-for-24, as did forward Stephen Jackson, 6-of-19, which helped to sink their team. Guard Monta Ellis led Golden State with 25 points.
