NBA Finals Generate Big TV Ratings

June 19 -- Despite a refereeing scandal that somewhat disrupted the NBA's marquee matchup, the Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers championship reunion ended with the sound of corks popping - both inside and outside of the locker room.

ABC's overall ratings for the event were the highest in eight years, even with the allegation of game fixing by former NBA referee Tim Donaghy's.

The clinching game 6, in which the Celtics won the title, blasting the Lakers 131-92, had a 10.7 rating, the highest since Game 6 of the 2000 Finals between the Lakers and Indiana Pacers drew 14.7. Overall, the series drew 9.3 percent of U.S. households. That's up 51 percent over last year's Cleveland-San Antonio series, which was the lowest-rated Finals ever at 6.2.
