Kobe Jersey Most Popular in China

August 12 -- For the second consecutive year, Kobe Bryant had the top selling NBA jersey in China. Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics, Tracey McGrady of the Houston Rockets, Paul Pierce of the Celtics, and the Denver Nuggets' Allen Iverson rounded out the top five of this year's list.

Garnett had the most popular jersey in the U.S. this season. China's Yao Ming, of the Houston Rockets, ranked 10th on the list, down from number six last year.

The rankings are based on gross sales from retail stores in China for the 2007-08 season. In July, the first two NBA Stores located outside the United States opened in Beijing. Both have exceeded sales projections by nearly 70 percent in their first two weeks.

NBA merchandise is available in over 30,000 retail locations throughout Greater China, and revenue this year is expected to increase by more than 60 percent. TV programming has surpassed one billion viewers for the second consecutive season.
