Lakers Regain 1st-Place in the West
Feb. 11 -- The Los Angeles Lakers are back to at top of the Western Conference. Kobe Bryant scored 34, while Lamar Odom chipped in with 20 points and 9 rebounds as the Lakers defeated the Toronto Raptors 117-108. It was Los Angeles' 18th win in 22 games.
The team now faces a 4-game road trip starting Friday at the New Orleans Hornets, followed by games at the incredibly hot Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz. The noted teams have a collective record of 168-86, and 101-26 at home.
Los Angeles shot a blazing 15-of-32 from three-point land. Bryant had 7 rebounds and the same number of assists. The Lakers now lead the San Antonio Spurs by a half-game in the Western Conference.
Toronto Raptors guard T.J. Ford scored 28 points, though his team lost for the fifth time in seven games. Anthony Parker chipped in with 21 points, Rasho Nesterovic tallied 18 along with 8 rebounds, and Andrea Bargnani added 15 points.
Toronto's star forward Chris Bosh missed his sixth consecutive game with an injured right knee. The team is 4-7 in his absence.
The game was twice removed from the classic 81 points that Bryant scored at Staples Center in a 122-104 drubbing on Jan. 22, 2006.
