Spike Lee to Film Michael Jordan Documentary

May 21 - According to noted filmmaker Spike Lee, he is planning to make a documentary about basketball great Michael Jordan, an announcement made at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

Industry sources indicate that Lee is hoping to have the NBA-financed film completed in time to bring it to next year's Cannes festival.

Lee's 40 Acres & a Mule Filmworks production company will produce the documentary, expected to include extensive heretofore unseen footage shot by NBA cameras during the final two years in Jordan's career.

Lee and Jordan previously worked together in the 1980s on a series of popular Nike television commercials promoting the Air Jordan sneaker brand.
