Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett Starters on NBA All-Star Teams

Denver Nugget guard Allen Iverson made a late surge in next month's All-Star game voting to earn a starting spot when the results were released Jan. 24. Teammate Carmelo Anthony will join him in the West's starting lineup, a first for him.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will be in the backcourt with Iverson. Houston Rockets center Yao Ming was voted a starter for the sixth straight season. San Antonio's Tim Duncan is the other starting forward, having been selected to every All-Star team since he entered the NBA in 1997.

Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett was the overall top vote-getter with nearly 2,400,000 votes. Cleveland Cavalier forward LeBron James and Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard will join him in the frontcourt. Miami Heat Dwyane Wade and New Jersey Net guard Jason Kidd will form the starting backcourt.

Iverson, traded last year from the Philadelphia 76ers, had started seven straight All-Star games, but did not do so last year - his first in the Western Conference.

Garnett will make his eleventh straight All-Star appearance (and his ninth start), second only to Shaquille O'Neal's 14 among active players. The star of the rejuvenated Celtics is a frontrunner for the year's MVP award.

The MVP of the 2006 game, James was the leading vote-getter last season. This year he was second overall with just over 2,100,000 votes.
