Brad Miller and Hedo Turkoglu Named NBA Players of the Week
On Feb. 4, Brad Miller of the Sacramento Kings and Hedo Turkoglu of the Orlando Magic were named the Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Jan. 28 to Feb. 3.
Miller guided the Kings to a 3-0 record, setting a career high with 21 rebounds on Jan. 30 against the Charlotte Hornets, a team single-game record. He recorded two 20-point, 20-rebound games, becoming the only player other than Chris Webber to do so multiple times. Webber did it five times.
Turkoglu, earning his second consecutive Player of the Week honor, helped the Magic to a 3-0 week, averaging of 24.3 points, 8 rebounds and 6.3 assists. He had a season-high-tying 8 assists in a Feb. 2 win at Indiana and led or tied his teammates in assists in all three of the Magic's games last week. Orlando leads the Southeast Division with a 31-18 record.
Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Cavaliers' Zydrunas Ilgauskas and LeBron James, Pistons' Tayshaun Prince, Rockets' Yao Ming, Supersonics' Kevin Durant and the Jazz's Deron Williams.
