Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett Named Players of the Week

April 14 - Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett were named the Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively. Both are also previous league MVP; Iverson won the award in 2001, Garnett in 2004.

Iverson guided Denver to a 3-1 week, during which he was second in the league in scoring with 28.8 points per game on .533 shooting, in addition to handing out 6.8 assists. He was also second in the Conference in steals, with 2.75 steals per game. Iverson has won the Player of the Week award three times this season.

Garnett led Boston to a 3-1 week, averaging 19.8 points on .600 shooting and 7.8 rebounds. This is also Garnett's third Player of the Week award.. He leads the Celtics with 9.3 rebounds per game and is second on the team in scoring with 19.0 points per game.

Other nominees for the Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta Hawks Joe Johnson, Charlotte Bobcats' Jason Richardson, Detroit Pistons' Jason Maxiell, Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant, Phoenix Suns' Amaré Stoudemire, Toronto Raptors' Chris Bosh and Utah Jazz's Mehmet Okur.
