Turiaf Ejected for Flagrant Foul in NBA Playoff Game

May 11 - Los Angeles Lakers forward Ronny Turiaf was ejected early in the 2nd quarter of Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Utah Jazz for a flagrant foul.

Turiaf knocked Utah's Ronnie Price, who was driving for a layup, hard to the floor leaving the Jazz guard with a bloody gash over his right eye that required four stitches. Utah coach Jerry Sloan came off the bench immediately after the play, pushing for an flagrant foul.

The officials then conferred and decided to eject Turiaf. Price said he didn't think Turiaf was trying to hurt him. "Those kind of plays happen in the playoffs," he said Price.

Los Angeles coach Phil Jackson said after the game that it shouldn't have been a flagrant foul and was surprised to see Turiaf ejected.
