Game 1 - Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers - 06/03/10

Boston CelticsLA Lakers

Like two heavyweight fighers, the two teams felt each other out for the first half - Round 1, if you will - before the Lakers blew it open in the third quarter. It was the Lakers’ tough, gritty defense that set the tone for the intense game, with Ron Artest taking on Paul Pierce before things barely got started. The two got tangled up under the basket about 30 second into the game, drawing double technicals. Kobe scored 30 in the Lakers' win, with Pau Gasol, vilified for the 'soft’ role he played in the 2008 Finals series, chipping in with a physical 23 points and 14 boards.

Game 2 - Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers - 06/06/10

Boston CelticsLA Lakers

Boston came out much more aggressively, after being pushed around in Game 1. Ray Allen had an incredible shooting night, breaking the record for the most three-pointers in a Finals game by hitting 8 of 11 from behind the arc. The game was tight throughout, but final quarter was dominated by the Celtics, as Rajon Rondo's 10 points in the quarter helped tie the series 1–1. Rondo finished with a triple-double - 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Gasol had a strong game, finishing with 25 points and 8 rebounds, while Kobe suffered through an 8-of-20 shooting night.

Game 3 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics - 06/08/10

LA LakersBoston Celtics

Derek Fisher was the difference in the game, taking over in the fourth quarter and scoring 11 big points to ensure a Laker win. After an amazing shooting performance in Game 2, Ray Allen went 0 - 13 from the field at home, scoring only two points. Kobe scored 29, but the main story was ‘Mr. Clutch’ Fisher, who scored scored four of the Lakers' five baskets to give the team a five-point lead with about 4 1/2 minutes left after the Celtics had pulled to within one point. He then scored a huge “and 1“ with with 49 seconds left that pretty much wrapped things up.

Game 4 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics - 06/10/10

LA LakersBoston Celtics

The Lakers took a three-point lead at the half, and led by two point after the third quarter, in which Kobe made three 3-pointers. The Boston reserves. mainly Big Baby Davis and Nate Robinson, outscored the Lakers 13–2 over nearly half the quarter. The Lakers got as close as four with about a minute remaining, but Rondo got a key steal and layup to seal the Boston win. Davis scored 18 points the game, with nine coming in the fourth quarter, and Robinson added 12. Kobe and Gasol had 33 and 21 points, respectively.

Game 5 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics - 06/13/10

LA LakersBoston Celtics

Pierce shot 7–10 and ended the first half with 15 points, and his three-pointer pushed the Celtics lead to double digits, 50–39, early in the third. The Lakers cut the lead to 5 with just over 40 seconds to go in the game, but on a critical inbounds play, Garnett lobbed the ball to Pierce, who, while falling out of bounds, threw it towards Rondo who laid it up on the run to ice the game. Rondo shot 9–12 from the floor for 18 points, along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Kobe had a great 38-point performance, hitting difficult shots from all over the floor.

Game 6 - Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers - 06/15/10

Boston CelticsLA Lakers

The Rout. Down 3-2, and with their backs against the wall, the Lakers came out firing offensively, as their defense held the Celtics to the second lowest-scoring performance in NBA Finals history, on 33 percent shooting. The decisive victory set the stage for a historic Game 7 in the Staples Center. At one point, the Lakers held a 27 point lead, and their bench outscored Boston's by 24–0 entering the fourth quarter. Kobe led with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Pau Gasol chipped in with 17 and 13.

Game 7 - Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers - 06/17/10

Boston CelticsLA Lakers

You could not script a more tight, tension-packed game, with excellent defense played on both sides throughout the contest. As it came down to the wire, with the game still in the balance until the final seconds, every shot, every rebound had huge significance. It was truly a hard-fought game, and the Lakers showed the necessary toughness down the stretch to seal the deal, and win their 16th Championship. The DVD contains the post-game interviews, including a real beauty by Ron Artest, and the trophy presentation.

Game 1 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic - 06/04/09

LA LakersOrlando Magic

Kobe Bryant dominated the first game of the championship series, putting up 40 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists as he led the Lakers to a blowout 100-75 win. Pau Gasol chipped in with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Lamar Odom added 11 points and 14 rebounds. The Magic actually had a lead early in the second quarter but then Kobe took over, and by the half the Lakers were ahead by 10 points. Not helping their cause, Orlando's outside snipers all shot poorly. Magic guard Jameer Nelson saw action on the court for the first time since Feb. 2, since undergoing shoulder surgery.

Game 2 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic - 06/07/09

LA LakersOrlando Magic

This was a tight contest throughout, with the Magic having a good chance to win it in regulation. However, when a last-second Hedo Tukoglu alley-oop to rookie Courtney Lee went awry, the game went into overtime, with the Lakers taking control and winning by a score of 101-96. Gasol was the main man in OT, scoring 7 of the Lakers' 13 points. For the Magic, Rashard Lewis made 6 of 12 three-pointers for 34 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists, and Turkoglu added 22 points while Dwight Howard tallied 17 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 4 blocked shots. On the Laker side, Gasol led the way with 24 points and 10 rebounds to go along with Kobe's 29 points and 8 assists.

Game 3 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic - 06/09/09

LA LakersOrlando Magic

Back at home, the Magic shot an NBA Finals record 63 percent to get their first Finals win in a close game, 108-104, cutting the Lakers' series lead to 2-1. Orlando set the pace with a sizzling 75 percent shooting performance in the first half, and ended the game with balanced scoring — five players scored 18 points or more points. Kobe had 31 points and 8 assists but only shot 11-for-25, also misfiring on 5 of 10 free throw attempts. It was the Magic franchise's first Finals victory, as in their previous 1995 trip the team that featured Shaquille O'Neal and Penny Hardaway was swept by the Houston Rockets.

Game 4 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic - 06/11/09

LA LakersOrlando Magic

In what turned out to be the decisive game of the series, Derek Fisher hit the biggest shot of his career when he nailed a tying three-pointer over an inexplicably back-pedaling Jameer Nelson. The shocked Magic, who evidently thought they had the game under control, never recovered and lost 99-91 to fall into a 3-1 series deficit. Kobe paced the Lakers with 32 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. With 11 seconds left in the game Howard, who had 16 points, 21 rebounds and a Finals record 9 blocks, missed two critical free throws — one of which would have made it a two-possession game. Fisher had missed all 5 of his 3-point attempts before nailing the one that forced overtime.

Game 5 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic - 06/14/09

LA LakersOrlando Magic

The Lakers gave coach Phil Jackson his 10th overall championship, breaking the tie with Red Auerbach for the most titles. In the 99-86 victory, Kobe, the obvious choice for Finals MVP, racked up 30 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. The Magic started the game with an early 15-6 lead but couldn't consistently make their three-pointers. The Lakers clamped down defensively, and when they went on a 16-0 run in the decisive second quarter, the game and series were all but over. Gasol dominated the paint, ending up with 14 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. and Odom contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds. Thus ended an entertaining Finals series that was not quite as lopsided as the eventual 4-1 result.

Game 6 - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics - 06/17/08

LA LakersBoston Celtics

Allen hit seven three pointers to tie a Finals record, and Rajon Rondo had an all-around spectacular performance with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals. The Celtics turned the ball over only seven times and set a Finals record with 18 steals. The final 39-point margin of victory was the largest ever in an NBA championship-clinching game. It was the Celtics' 17th championship, their first since 1986, extending their record for most NBA championships won by a single team.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings - 05/31/02

LA LakersSacramento Kings

In what would become one of the most controversial games in league history, Shaquille O'Neal powered the Lakers to a Game Seven in the Western Conference finals with 41 points and 17 rebounds as the two-time defending champions staved off elimination with a 106-102 victory. The controversy involved what many observers felt was extremely biased officiating in favor of the Lakers. This was reinforced during the 2008 trial of disgraced referee Tim Donaghy when he alleged that game officials, acting in the interest of the NBA, conspired to extend a playoff series in 2002 to a seventh game. The Lakers-Kings series was the only one that went to seven games in that year.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Philadelphia 76ers - 06/06/01

LA LakersPhiladelphia 76ers

Led by Allen Iverson, the upstart Sixers stunned the heavily-favored Lakers with a 107-101 OT win in Game 1 of the 2001 NBA Championships. Ivsrson scored 30 points in the first half, the most since Jordan torched the Trail Blazers in the 1992 championship series. The game featured Iverson's famous crossover and 'step-over' Tyron Lue after hitting a key jumper in OT. As intense a Game 1 of a championship series as has ever been played.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trail Blazers - 06/04/00

LA LakersPortland Trail Blazers

In a truly intense game, Los Angeles, on the verge of losing three straight games for the first time all season, went on a 15-0 tear in the fourth quarter run to erase a huge Trail Blazer lead and win Game Seven of the 2000 Western Conference Championships. Kobe took over late in the game, hitting clutch shot after clutch shot, and delivering the game's most climactic moment - an awesome alley-oop to Shaq for a thunderous dunk that brought the house down and sealed the victory. This game marked the beginning of the Lakers dynasty.

2008 Olympics Gold Medal Game - USA vs. Spain - 08/24/08

US Flag  Spanish Flag

The so-called "Redeem Team" finished the job they set out to do, by restoring America's primacy in men's basketball - but it was no easy task. The Spanish National Team that was soundly beaten the previous week by the US squad in pool play proved to be a tough, resilient opponent and remained in close contention to win until the last two minutes of the game. Late game heroics by Kobe Bryant helped save the day for the Redeem Team in one of the most exciting Olympic basketball games in recent memory.

1992 Olympics Gold Medal Game - USA vs. Croatia - 08/08/92

US Flag  Croatian Flag

Popularly known as the greatest team assembled in any sport, the first Dream Team, led by Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan was truly a dominant force in the Barcelona Olympics. Although most will recall the team's absurdly high margin of victory over clearly overmatched opponents, the Gold Medal game was actually a tight contest in the early going. A Croatian team led by the late Drazen Petrovic and the then-best player in Europe, Tony Kukoc, actually led the US squad 25-23 early in the first half and continued to play in a spirited, non-intimidated fashion throughout the game. The expected end result was a coronation, of sorts, and like with the Redeem Team's victory, placed America at the top of the men's basketball heap after the failure to win the Gold by college players in 1988.
